Vincenzo Costanzo is one of the youngest tenors on the world opera scene.
From a very young age he began studying singing with Marcello Ferraresi, then perfecting his technique with Piero Giuliacci. Winner of the Oscar Della Lirica in 2014, despite his young age Vincenzo Costanzo had already had the opportunity to collaborate with internationally renowned directors and conductors such as Myung-whun Chung, James Conlon, Daniel Oren, Franco Zeffirelli, Emma Dante and Liliana Cavani.
He has performed on internationally renowned stages such as the Teatro La Fenice in Venice, the Teatro Real in Madrid, the Arena in Verona, the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, the Dutch National Opera in Amsterdam and the San Francisco Opera House.
In December 2012 he made his debut in Giuseppe Verdi’s “Macbeth” and in the following years he expanded his Verdi repertoire by debuting Rodolfo in “Luisa Miller” in Busseto on the occasion of the bicentenary of Verdi’s birth, conducted by Donato Renzetti and directed by Leo Nucci, a role that aroused great acclaim from the public and the critics also at the Teatro Real in Madrid. He was Alfredo Germont in “La traviata” at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples and at the Deutsche Oper in Berlin.
He made his debut as Riccardo in “Un ballo in maschera” in London conducted by Gianluca Marcianò, “Simon Boccanegra” at the Opéra national de Montpellier conducted by Michael Schønwandt, arriving at his recent debut in “Ernani”, a role that was met with great success at the Opera Ballet Vlaanderen Antwerpen.
In February 2014 he made his debut in “Madama Butterfly” at the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino conducted by Juraj Valcuha in the role of Pinkerton.
He is Rodolfo in “La bohème” in Palermo, Ruggero in “La Rondine” directed by Rolando Villazón at the Deutsche Oper in Berlin. He made his debut in the role of Mario Caravadossi in “Tosca” at the Puccini Festival in Torre Del Lago as the season opener.
He is Roberto in “Le villi” at the Staatstheater Mainz where he adds to his prominent characters also the debut in Maurizio di Saxony in “Adriana Lecouvreur” conducted by Daniel Montané and directed by Gianluca Falaschi.
In 2021 he opened up to the world of television by playing the role of Rinuccio in “Gianni Schicchi” the film by Damiano Michieletto, then Alfredo in “La traviata” in Virtual Reality, the first metaverse piece.
His 2023 season includes important debuts, such as Mario Cavaradossi in “Tosca” at the Teatro de la Maestranza in Seville, Rodolfo in “La Bohème” at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples, Pinkerton in “Madama Butterfly” during the tour of the Teatro La Fenice in Venice in Ljubljana and Pinkerton again in “Madama Butterfly” at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples.
